CrossFit Certification Level II
CrossFit Running and Endurance Certification Level I
Jeremy started with a number of sports at a young age (baseball, basketball, etc.), eventually focusing on soccer for a total of 9 years before moving on to study the Martial Arts.
He began training in Tracy’s Kenpo Karate (a.k.a. Kenpo Jiu Jitsu), a traditional reality based self-defense based system using private instruction as it’s primary medium for teaching. Eventually he became an instructor under Robert Yard and has been teaching Kenpo for over 10 years.
While studying under Mr. Yard, he was introduced to the art of Shootfighting. Containing such things as Muay Thai Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu, Sambo, (and more), Shootfighting is an art based upon the Japanese version of mixed martial arts started in the late 70s brought to the United States by Bart Vale. Jeremy has been coaching Shootfighting for more than 6 years as well as competing in amateur matches occasionally.
Immediately following an amateur bout in spring of 2004, Jeremy found CrossFit. Even after winning in the ring, his body was brutally beaten by his first WOD (workout of the day). After more than a year of rigorously following the CrossFit method, incorporating it into his Martial Arts practice /teachings, and making occasional visits to the HQ in Santa Cruz, he was certified in the fall of 2005.
Since his certification, he has been running classes at various parks, garage gyms, and at the Martial Arts studio. Currently he is still teaching Martial Arts under Robert Yard in Fairfield California as well as being one of the head coaches at Diablo CrossFit.

-- Rob Barnum --
Ht.: 6'0
Wt.: 180 lbs
Rob is a 25 year old entrepreneur who has been active in CrossFit
since August 2005. At an early age, Rob began training to optimize
his performance in various high school sports, notably baseball,
basketball and boxing. Training with Humboldt State University's
football team, Rob learned the fundamentals for olympic lifting that
Rob integrated with his boxing training to optimize his speed and
strength training.
When he arrived in the bay area for college, Rob fell into Crew,
abandoning olympic lifting in favor of more focused training at the
urging of his coaches. After noticing significant losses in strength,
Rob retired from crew and returned to the gym with a focus on heavy
lifting, pushing his bench press over 350 lbs but also making it
difficult to run a 5k...
Shortly thereafter, Rob discovered CrossFit, where he found the
perfect blend of the strength and speed training featured in each of
these various training regimes. Two and a half years later, CrossFit
remains the foundation for Rob's fitness approach.

--Nathan Peterson--
Ht: 5'10
Wt:180
Nate's pursuit of physical fitness began in high school while training for sports; mainly football, wrestling, and tennis, containing a strong foundation for olympic lifting, endurance training, and speed skills. After excelling in wrestling for six years, Nate's grappling career was quickly ended by a serious shoulder injury. Due to the injury, overall fitness fell to the waste side in college as he presumed the normal collegiate workouts of bench press, preacher curls, and overall mirror watching, but after graduating from Penn St. in the spring of 2006, Nate packed up the car and headed west to California, where he was immediately introduced to the CrossFit program by DCF Trainer Rob Barnum. Since then, Nate has been actively training with the Diablo CrossFit team and looks forward to continuing the trend towards overall fitness.

--Stavros Kalogirou--
aka: "Stav"
Ht: 5'10"
Wt: 185
CrossFit Certification Level I
CrossFit Nutrition Certification Level I
Stavros currently works for the Santa Rosa Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic. He grew up in the east bay and played sports(football, basketball, baseball) his Jr/Sr year at a local high school. Although he grew up athletic, he was never satisfied with his level of fitness. Once in college he took up running and swimming and immediately got in to the best shape of his life. Trail running on Mt. Diablo and swimming at DVC ended up keeping Stavros in great shape for most of college. Some life changes took place and his fitness declined for a couple of years, it wasn't until he began the pursuit of a new career, Firefighting, that he again took his fitness (and nutrition) seriously.
Stavros trained consistently with one of our other trainers, Darren, at a local "globo-gym" for nearly two years. They both made big "strength" gains and had impressive results...at weightlifting. The lull of the same weightlifting with some cardio routine wore on him and he looked for something different and found Diablo Crossfit. Once that decision was made, there was no turning back. In 2006 Stavros found Diablo Crossfit and began training under Jeremy and Craig. He found The Shed in it's early stages. It was almost empty during his first workout, but he was hooked. He quickly realized his fitness was one-dimensional and not practical to his new career choice.
Stavros left us briefly for two periods during fire academies he was in, and came back for good in 2007 once he was hired with the Santa Rosa Fire Department. He has also learning more about nutrition and using the Zone to increase his productivity at Crossfit. During that time his fitness has excelled. He recently attended a Crossfit Level I certification training and is leading classes during the week as well as private training.

--Jimmy Greninger--
aka: "JimmyG"
Ht: 6’ 2-1/2”
Wt: 205
CrossFit Certification Level I
Jimmy was exposed to every sport he could find from a very young age.
Soccer, Baseball, Swim Team, Football, Basketball, Tennis, Bowling, and he played them all up until High School. During High School Jimmy lettered in Baseball with First Team All Conf. Honors and 2 Divisional Championships as a Pitcher and Center Fielder as well as First Team Honors in Football as a Wide-Receiver for California High School in San Ramon, CA.
Jimmy was drafted by the California Angels in the 7th round of the 1994 MLB draft, BUT opted not to sign and be drafted but instead went to Modesto Junior College as a “draft and follow” to play Baseball and Football. Jimmy thrived in both sports and was an Honorable Mention All-American in Football with his 1995 National Championship team. Playing receiver, Jimmy averaged 30 yards per catch with 8 T.Ds and over 900 yards total. It was at Modesto that Jimmy found his love for MMA (Mixed martial Arts).
After 2 years at MJC, Jimmy earned a full ride scholarship to CSUN (Cal State University Northridge) in LA. He earned a degree in Psychology and was a Team Capitan. After a great couple of years at CSUN Jimmy was on the radar of several NFL teams including the Packers, Broncos, Eagles, Ravens, Steelers and Chargers. He posted a 4.43sec 40 yard dash and a 36.5 inch vertical jump. The week before he was to fly out to the Green Bay Packers camp, Jimmy ripped his hamstring, and could never get it back to 100% again. He injured it again before his trip to the San Diego Chargers mini-camp. So, without the extra gears and top end speed Jimmy had to give up Football and got back into training and MMA.
It was about a year ago Jimmy hooked back up with his childhood friend Jeremy Jones, and was immediately engulfed into the CrossFit lifestyle. Jimmy and his wife Kelly help run the 6am Hard Core Fire Breathers class with JJ. Jimmy and Kelly are also Co-Owners of MMAJacked, Chuck”The Iceman”Liddell’s flagship MMA Training Center in Livermore, CA. Jimmy is also Co-Owner of Soldier Fight Gear.

--Darren Rosten--
aka. "D Roe"
Height: 6' 1"

CrossFit Certification Level I
Darren, born in raised in Concord, where he played Baseball and Soccer most of his younger years. After graduating highschool he started to pursue a career as a Firefighter, taking classes at the local Community colleges and attending a college Firefighter Academy.
During this period, a lot of time was spent at gym. He saw strength gains, but fell into a lot of the fitness industries gimmicks, reading a number magazines and trying numerous types of supplements. His weight would fluctuate up and down. After getting hired at Contra Costa County Fire Department he had a friend at work introduce him to CrossFit. He did workouts off the main site at the station and at "Globo Gyms" untill he found Diablo CrossFit.
He has been training and seeing great gains and progress since starting at DCF in 2006. In the middle 6 months of 2008 he revamped his diet and has seen even more gains. Darren enjoys Moutain Biking, Snowboarding, Softball, Soccer, and (of course his favorite sport) CrossFit.

--Mark Lind--
aka. "Marky Mark"
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 154
CrossFit Certification Level I
CrossFit Kids Certification
Mark began his fitness journey at age 7 in a competitive foot race around Lake Meritt at his father's side. Along with the plethora of competitive sports all suburban kids are compelled to participate in,
Mark continued his quest to be a runner in high school XC and Track. After having successfully competed in the middle and long distances his sophomore year, his body was changing, and he pursued wrestling and powerlifting to finish out his last 2 high school years. This road ended
at globo-gym fitness as college began.
By his early 20's, Mark found himself at a crossroads with two job offers: corporate information technology and corporate "Fitness Trainer" (then, at 24 Hour Nautilus). The money won out, and Mark followed the road into information technology. However, he continued to practice his globo-gym skills 4 to 5 times weekly, and he trained many of his friends and family on the side over the years.
In 2007, after a shoulder reconstruction to repair typical globo-gym trauma, Mark started a new quest for achieving fitness, but this time he re-examined the body of scientific knowledge freely available in this information age. The conclusion of his exhaustive research was, "Crossfit is it!"
After less than a year with DCF, Mark decided to take on the mission of spreading the word about TRUE fitness, through Crossfit, to the world. His desire is to share what he now personally enjoys at DCF: An enthusiastic community of people dedicated to fitness, health and each other.
Mark is a Crossfit Certified Level 1 Trainer (6/28/08), a Crossfit Kids Certified Trainer (8/30/08) and he is working on completing his National Strength & Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer
(NSCA-CPT) certification.
