So as I said on DCF's page on facebook, I have reached 6 months at this gym (which seems small, but is a major accomplishment for me) I have NEVER done continuous exercise for over a few months and just the fact that I'm excited to walk in those doors every day and workout (or just hang ;op) is such a wonderful thing for me. You guys have built an amazing gym and filled it with some of the most amazing athletes and kind hearted people I have ever seen. I laugh louder, sweat more, and push myself harder than I ever have before...thanks for showing me a way of life that makes me stronger mentally and physically, see you at a year ;o)

Laci and I had an AWESOME experience at the Robb Wolf seminar today. I will make copies of my handouts and leave them at the gym if anyone is interested. The geek in me loved learning the biochemistry and science behind paleo and I now have a much better understanding of the "why's" behind this lifestyle. Perhaps the most inspiring and eye opening moment for me, was when I finally understood, scientifically, how gluten, dairy and sugar can affect the degree of behaviors and symptoms of children with autism. I'm excited to share what I have learned with some families and children that are so very dear to me. Robb is very knowledgeable, hilarious, and totally real... my 2nd favorite part was when he said I can still drink tequila ;)
Kudos to Jeremy and all of our trainers, for creating a crossfit affiliate that is truly one of a kind. DCF'ers... we are REALLY LUCKY. After chatting with Robb and Nicki, Melissa Urban, and other crossfit affiliate owners and representatives, I became aware that DCF is nationally known for EXCELLENT programming and remarkably strong athletes. I am grateful, humbled and honored to be part of not only the crossfit community, but the DCF family.

Wow, love the DCF props this morning! Thank you Malissa and Katie for posting those comments..it's the community - somehow it all comes together in that box. Katie, I'm looking forward to hearing more about the nutrition seminar, especially about kids.
0600H was rockin' but missing: Debbie (?!!), Juanell, Cabby, Justin & Lauren, Alan & Nancy. Several peeps went 10.8.6.4.2.10 today and set PRs including, Anita & Eleni. Nice to see MattF in and taking a REST DAY!! (you heard it right).
Also, BenW & Marc Kaiser Sozay came in for some squats and many rounds of the mini-metcon. Kaiser rips muscles-ups for his warm-up. Beast.
Finally, just a pat on the back to Matt Friedlani (6AM Matt) who coached DCF to 1,000,000+ meters while shouldering the bulk of the load himself. Matt purchased a rower back in June, 2009 and officially logged 1million meters on his memory card on Jan 31, 2010. So, Matt rowed a million on his own in 7 months! (That's almost 5k a day for 7 months!) You are an inspiration, buddy. Thank you for your hard work and support on behalf of the community!

Missed my 6am workout today... its sad but I'm in vegas working at a conference. One of our recruiters from texas is going to sectionals I found out. She brought rings and her abmat with her. That is nuts! Okay, back to work...

Anyone interested in doing a "mommy meal" for Jaz and Stav, please contact me at claudenlila@astound.net - I am working with Brook to coordinate meals for them while they adjust to life with three little people in the house. We thought it would be nice to have some DCFer's welcome baby with a Paleo meal. I'll get back to you with a choice of dates and some guidelines. Thank you - counting on the big love vibe here today.

Malissa congrats on 6 months of DCF and keeping focused on your fitness.
Katie... Your so right about how lucky we are to be part of such an amazing family
DCF ROW UPDATE...1,015,420 Meters Total
To be totally honest I never thought we would have 20 rowers dedicated to getting a million meters in 30 days. We did great for a new team.
We were listed in the "Health Club" section with "6-20 rowers". We ended up in 6th place and had some people do good in the rankings. There was 655 people rowing in our bracket. Here is our top 10 rowers, and where they rank out of the 655
people competing.
Matt F.....10th....343,574
Mountain...45th....200,001
Ronnielo..159th.....73,693
Jeff B....191th.....52,819
Katie.....218th.....40,427
Dave D....225th.....39,000
Tyler.....250th.....32,500
Amy C.....274th.....27,265
Kathy.....298th.....24,174
Sarah A...301st.....23,941
The important thing about this challenge is it is a team effort. It doesnt matter how many meters you logged. What matters is that you logged meters for your team. People came together and got it done and thats what DCF is all about.
I really want to thank all of you rowers and DCF mates who supported us for this 30 day draining challenge. I also want to say that if all of you had a concept2 in your spare bedroom like I do then you would have a lot more meters then you do.
In saying that I want to throw a couple bones to some people who worked real hard for our team.
MOUNTAIN..In order to achieve 200,000 meters he had to come in to DCF when ever he could and row a set in the morning and in the evening, Also before and after doing a WOD..
RONNIELO..Steady eddy..non stop and made some big pushes when we needed them the most
JEFF BLOXHAM...This guy was also steady and really helped us all the way through the challenge.
KATIE...Our leading lady had big numbers and kept us in the fight from start to finish.
BIG DAVE...When things were looking like we may not make it Dave stepped up big and helped us get things back on track
AMY C.....Amy and baby on board who joined the team late ended up kicking butt and making a huge push in the last couple of days that helped put us back on track when we fell behind.
WHAT YOU ALL GET...YOU ALL GET TO DOWNLOAD AND PRINT OUT A CERT FROM CONCEPT 2, There is also a t-shirt iron on type download. You are posted on the honor boards & rankings. You now have a free log book online for all your rowing meters. And you can shop at the cafe-press Jan challenge store...
But most of all you get to say you busted your butt on that rower. (Sore butt will heal :-)
DCF is now a contender in indoor rowing. Im going to want to do it again later in the year if we get some positive feedback from our team.
Thanks again to all the people who made this happen.

so proud to know you Jazz....Cindy, less than a week after giving birth. I brag about you to everyone!

ROWING: Again-great job on the rowing! I must say as someone that likes to row (more than run) I didn't think it would be that hard for our team to get 1million meters. Then crunch time came and we all stepped up!
I would gladly do it again in a few months!
MALISSA & KATIE: I love DCF too and like Malissa usually feel bored after a few months of working out on my own. But I look forward to ending my day at the shed and seeing all the happy people there. DCF is way more than a gym-it's a family!

Since we're throwing out love for DCF today....
One of my year end goals for last year was to train consistently from early November until my rugby season started at the end of January. This followed rehabbing a knee injury for most last season and being out of town working for most of the summer.
After committing myself to that end and putting in some hard work with the fun and always entertaining DCF cast and crew, I played in my club's first league match last Saturday. I played the entire 80 minutes of the match and other than one point when the match deteriorated into a track meet for a few minutes near the end, I was strong and fit for the duration. I also scored both my my club's tries (like touchdowns in football)on the day. Numerous players from the other team made comments to me during and after the match saying that I never seemed to tire out, and asked what I was on... All i could do was smile and say, 'hard work'.
Thank you DCF for being a large part of what made my season debut and return to rugby a successful one. I look forward to what DCF and a lot of sweat can do for for the rest of the season through June. Thanks to all.

I just looked at this mini-metcon on BTWB and this was the metcon that I missed the box jump on. AAARgh...why did I look? Hopefully I didn't just psych myself out on this one... See the crazies in less than 3 hours!

With all this love going around, you would have thought it was Valentine's Day! But I feel the same way... Even if we were not doing Crossfit and instead Sweating to the oldies I would still show up at 6am...I HEART DCF!
Way to go rowers. Now I get my husband back. I have not seen him all month. Make sure and laminate those certs Matt
Carry, wish we could witness your domination at the throwdown. We will be wine tasting.

Now that CF sectionals are scheduled for the same day as the Fight for Air Climb, I'd like to know who is doing the climb.
I'm doing the climb then heading over to watch the sectionals.
We can arrange carpooling to the city and sectionals.
We have an excellent chance to win the fastest individual and team spots this year, KMSF CrossFit (who won the trophy last year) is not going to participate this year.
We are the #1 CrossFit fundraising team and #2 team overall out of 65 teams.
To help raise funds check out http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/ccp.asp?ievent=327264&ccp=94214
and
http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/ccp.asp?ievent=327264&ccp=94227
Does anyone want DCF team shirts made for the climb? If anyone has connections for the shirts and printing let me know.
To help with our fundraising we could do a group parking lot yard sale at DCF.
Email me and let me know if:
1. You're doing the climb
2. Want to carpool, if you will drive and how many seats available
3. Want to get a shirt for the climb
4. Want to do a yard sale, maybe first part of March?
For practice try the stairs at Pleasant Hill Bart Station or the 12 story county building downtown Martinez. We can't do a group stair climb at the county bldg., they'll kick us out and then I won't be able to use it.

Yes I'm doing the climb, and would like a shirt. I think carpooling would be great and would be willing to drive, my truck can take 4 people plus me.
