BEEF is here!

I thought it'd be ready a little bit earlier today, but I just got the call (after the softball game), that the beef is ready to be picked up.

So... who wants to pick up their beef Saturday morning? I'm thinking 11am. I need a head count so I know how much to pick up now, and how much to leave for a later pickup (Sunday? Monday?).

I know Julie's in for a Saturday pickup. Anyone else? Let me know.

Joined the 10am class with Luca as our coach. He loves to punish! The 400m run with 25# held overhead was a brutal prequel to this workout.

13:10 as RX'd

My last time on DT was 8:34, today, the 155# is a bit closer to bodyweight. Either way it felt VERY heavy on the push jerks, and my grip was giving out on the PC's. Tough to grind though, but Chris W. was RX also, so we were yelling at each other and that helped. When we did this in April, JJ absolutely KILLED it, I believe he was Sub-8? Somewhere around 7:45 if I remember right. Very freakish!

Ask anyone from today classes and they will all tell you DT IS HARD, you start with the DL and they are so easy, but then you go right into the
HPC and things get a little more heavy, by the time you start your PJ the weight feels like a ton, and do it for 4 more rounds it's almost unthinkable, despite all today classes grinded out nicely, the form was good, for the most part, all around the gym, the 10am class was big with 15 people in it, lots of weight dropping, music blasting and people grunting it was CrossFit at its best, total different atmosphere in the 11am class 4 people all with great form and much less noise, just as intense though, good times, see you all next Saturday

I think the following article is pretty interesting and very Paleo. I obviously was not eating enough of the right foods a few weeks back. What do you think Craig?.....LOL
I have been on Paleo a month now. I have been pretty strict about it. I have seen some improvements in energy levels.Have not see it in my WOD's yet. The real proof for me will be when I get my lab results back and see improvements in my cholesterol numbers. And if those numbers are better I know many other things will improve.
Whats up Luca?

Improve Your Mood in 5 Minutes
8 Ways to Ease Your Worries
Did you find this helpful?
Thank you!

Fight stress and depression with five nutrient-buffed snacks
Sorry, ice cream isn't on the list! But the following foods do have nutrients that can help fight stress and depression, says Elizabeth Somer, RD, author of Eat Your Way to Happiness.

Food: Oranges, lemons and other citrus fruits
Mood-Boosting Ingredient: Vitamin C
This vitamin helps you cope better in stressful times by lowering your levels of stress hormones. If you get a lot regularly, you'll feel calmer during tough situations.

Food: Nuts
Mood-Boosting Ingredients: Vitamin E, arginine (an amino acid) and magnesium
A handful of nuts will keep you full and satisfied because they have a low glycemic index-which means they don't jack up your blood sugar levels and cause mood swings. It also makes you feel good to eat something that seems decadent (they're considered a little bit naughty because they're high in fat) but actually has health benefits.

Food: Leafy greens
Mood-Boosting Ingredient: Folic Acid
Research has shown that the folic acid in leafy greens such as kale and spinach can reduce depression and even improve blood flow to the brain. If you're not eating at least one serving per day you're more than likely low in folic acid, so try getting more or consider taking a multivitamin that contains it.

Food: Salmon
Mood-Boosting Ingredient: DHA (an omega-3 fatty acid)
The omega-3s in fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines have been found to improve your mood while lowering the risk of depression and age-related memory loss. The depression link is so strong that American Psychiatric Association suggests that anyone taking antidepressants and/or going through therapy also boost her intake of omega 3s.

Food: Dried cherries
Mood-Boosting Ingredients: Potassium, magnesium and vitamin C
These nutrients all work to curb your body's stress response. Dried cherries also keep your brain healthy because they're packed with antioxidants (including vitamin C), which prevent damage to your brain cells that can lead to memory problems.

Ron you miss me?

Posted by: luca at November 7, 2009 9:58 PM

I'm with you Ron. Thanks for posting that. 2 weeks Paleo not including last night's ice cream. Leaner for sure. Feeling better during workouts. However, same with Ron: not sure about performance gains yet. Also will get my blood tested in Jan for cholestoral, etc. Then the proof will be in.
