Monday - Nov 9, 2009 "Judgment Week"
![]()
Team "Sailor Jerry" (Michele and Len) work the bag in unison.
This week is "Judgment Week." For the next seven days, every workout will be completed with a partner judging form and counting reps. It seems like people have been letting their intensity and quest for PRs get in the way of good form lately, and it might be time for a reality check.
Every member will get a chance to perform under pressure, and find out if their form for every rep is as good as they think it is. It will also give everyone a chance to be a judge and help their partner perform the workouts at the highest possible intensity level while maintaining good form.
Each 'judge' will be held responsible for their partner. If the person you are judging is performing incorrect repetitions (form, ROM, not enough reps, etc), and you let them continue, you will do burpees at the end of class (so don't get too excited cheering on your partners and forget your job)!
Workout: Deadlifts
3, 3, 3, 3, 3
Record loads used each round.
Metabolic conditioning workout: "Annie"
Go as far as you can in 10 minutes. If you know you can't finish in 10, start at 40 (or even 30).
50-40-30-20 and 10 rep rounds of:
Double-unders
Sit-ups

4th Annual Fight for Air Climb

3/27/2010, Saturday
they will give us a team start in the morning
555 California, San Francisco
52 stories (1197 stairs)
www.climbcalifornia.org
www.fightforairclimb.org
new feature this year to help you get donation for the American Lung Association- you can add a link to your personal Facebook and YouTube our team homepage.
Last year we climbed as a Team (DCF) against all the local CrossFit affiliates.
For those of you new to this, you are timed from getting from the bottom of the stairs to the top. Live band and food when you reach the top! I know the DCFers that did it last year are going to want to beat their times. We all said we did not know what to expect and could of done better!

Yvonne,
I'll do the climb again. Have you or someone from DCF set up a team page on the climb website?
Posted by: Tami at November 9, 2009 9:24 AM
Yvonne,
I am ready for the climb.

Yvonne,
Can I register now individually online, or should I wait for some group action/setup?

I think it's a great thing for us to have additional eyes...I know when we were doing front squats the other day I felt off, but Mike P happen to be watching and said my form was good. Then when I went to heavier weight my form REALLY WAS BAD-luckily people told me!
I will be in tonight hopefully by 7 for the deadlifts, and then I'm going to work on rowing instead of the mini-metcon. I have a late client meeting, so I might be late but I really want to work on some stuff that we talked about at our mini clinic.
If needed I can be a set of eyes for form and reps etc.

Scott,
I just checked the climb Ca website, DCF hasn't started a team yet, you might want to wait and sign up with the team. The more team members we have the better chances we have to climb over (& snarl at'm as we pass) the other CF teams sucking air to the top.

I just found out that the team Captain needs to sign up first. Is there anyone that wants to volunteer for that? After the Team Captain signs up then we can all sign on the DCF Team. You can sign up now as an individual but you will need to contact them to be added to the team later. So wait a couple days, if no one want to do it, I will. I will keep you all posted way before the fee goes up.

Yvonne, I would like to give the climb a try. Please put me down as well. I am trying to convince Luca to do the climb with me but I have been unsuccessful, so far. I will work on him.

Oly Bootcamp:
The schedule seems to be an issue (doesn't everyone get off work at 3pm?), and we've gotten only a couple sign-ups.
That said, we are going to open sign-ups to people outside the gym in the next day or so. If you're going to sign up, click quick to reserve your spot! We're capping the participation at 8 people.

If there are no objections in the court room, I don't mind being team captain. Anyone want to be my co-captain?
Posted by: Tami at November 9, 2009 2:56 PM
Yvonne, I would love to climb!
Tami, I second the motion for you as our captain!

Fun work this morning. Walked in to see Big Dave nailing a PR on DLs at 385x3.
Big focus on form this morning. I don't mind lighter lifts if form is tight - backs are safe and the Deadlift does its work!
Matt, Leni and Josh did Annie situps in the GHD - brutal. Nancy & Alan smokin' the double unders.
More practice on the seated muscle ups with a relaxed core (this is crucial!). Someone new from the 6AM class will do a muscle up again this week. In a seated position, with a false grip, hands and elbows in tight, pull yourself up then pop the hips up hard and fast (the kip) and throw the head through the rings.
Matt & Hector: after the agressive hip kip, your feet should be extended out in front, which will help push your head through the rings. So close.

Scott-- wasn't able to do this evening. Sorry. Can you do tomorrow evening, or not until Weds? My apologies for the logistics, but with no fridge, we need everyone at DCF at the same time.

sarah, you run an awesome class... was a good time tonight.
And thanks for the tips on the back rolling - bad habit I've developed during my 18 month sabbatical. Good catch. :)

Dean,
Was that your black jump rope that you started the WOD with today? I put it in a cubbie for you. If it isn't yours I can hang it up tomorrow.
Good job today by the way!!
