Article: Lower your bad cholesterol and have be less likely to have a heart attack right? . . . WRONG!
"A new national study has shown that nearly 75 percent of patients hospitalized for a heart attack had cholesterol levels that would indicate they were not at high risk for a cardiovascular event, based on current national cholesterol guidelines.
Specifically, these patients had low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels that met current guidelines, and close to half had LDL levels classified in guidelines as optimal (less than 100 mg/dL).."

Nice new web, Malissa I remember your first class, i was thinking, of all the WOD you could have picked on your first class you picked one of the hardest, but you did a great job on the 30s tomorrow you'll conquer the 50s for sure

The site looks hot guys, good job!
The only thing I notice is that once you click "click here for comments" the page is a little sparse/funky.

OMG, it finally happened!! WOW! Thank you to all that were involved in the improvements, the new look of the gym and the website!!! So proud to be a part of DCF!
When Jeremy commented that peeps were cherry picking on the 50 burpees, I thought for a split second punishment would be the Filthy Fifty the next day. Rest day for me but I might have to go in because I love the Filthy Fifty! I promise I will take 2 days off.
Happy 30th Birthday to Jeremy today! May you do the Filthy Fifty twice in a row when you are 100!!!

Bear with us..we're rebuilding all the templates. That takes a while. It'll look right soon.
Posted by: Craig at November 3, 2009 8:46 PM
hey guys,
Thanks for the positive feedback on the site!
On our overzealousness to finally launch, we forgot to update the comments pages... so, the site is having to rebuild which will take a few hours. It might look broken until then... our bad.

JJ's Dirty 30 is the Filthy 50!
Hope you have a great b-day!
Posted by: 6am...Matt&Len at November 3, 2009 9:09 PM
If we already have double-unders and can do 20+ in a row, will there be "refinement" techniques offered in the skills clinic or is it centered around teaching the double under in general?
For those that didn't see it earlier, must see: video

Thanks Luca! I was sacred s**tless that day! I'm sure some sort of crying or puking will be happening tomorrow, but i welcome the challenge. Now this means Luca, you will have to come in to scare me through it again!
Happy Birthday JJ...Hope your day is awesome and turning 30 isn't as tiring as I assume it will be when I experience it in a few months!

Site looks great guys!!!
Checking out all the mobile devices to see how this site looks and so far good except for the Storm2 device. I can't seem get the pics to roll like on the main page. Need to see if that is a configuration problem with the device.
WM device seems to be kind of funky because it show the site very large on the phone and when you zoom out it too small to view. Then I zoom back in to it and still can't view it properly.
I will check the Google devices out later when I get into the office to see how the site looks.

I can't believe Katie corrected my spelling yesterday. What a german floor.
Posted by: Miles at November 4, 2009 7:04 AM
hahahahahaha... It wasn't just you, Miles. Turns out DCF peeps type "douche" a lot on this site... Don't even get me started with "you're" and "your". =)
Excited/scared shitless for this wod. I've only done the Dirty Thirty before and I cried a little during the burpees part...

Happy Birthday JJ. New site looks great.
Posted by: Alan at November 4, 2009 7:50 AM
I love that Katie corrected douche yesterday and dropped a shitless today. I usually puss-out and throw in a symbol of some sort. At least its confirmed I should refrain from any attempt at harsh/intimidating language unless I can locate my balls first and just type the real thing.
Rob, I'm always in for a DCF team of any sport so you can assume I'm in every time. Except if it's curling, that's just a stupid activity altogether.

The new web site looks awsome, great marketing for new clients. I have a question; what happen to the menu on the left where you click on "crossfit" then exercise demos, and watch the how to video's ?.

Happy Birthday, Dooshbag!
We had a very steady flow of people, last night. Lots of warm up and cool down exercises before and after this quickie WOD.
The 5 muscle/power/full snatch drill was a WOD of it's own. Scott started complaining that he was yawning and starting to cool down, but then realized he totally forgot to do set 2 and 3 of the snatch drills. Michele M. continues to amaze me with her aptitude for Crossfit stuff, and Sarah T. has come a long way, and is beginning to really generate some power.
Before the burpees, we talked about jumping all the way through to your hands to save your midsection from dying partway through.
I saw solid work from everyone! People were really jumping up to hit their target, and missed hits were reattempted. Not a lot of rest going on, either. Tom S. fought his way through, and we all cheered him on as he finished up.
After, we did some Tabata bird dog exercises to help stabilize that low back (important in... lots of stuff we do), stretched it out, and went home.
Katie, your great and I'll bet you get you're best FULL FF time, yet, today! The Filthy Fifty. Its great that it's day has finally come. (sic)

hey Dante,
Good catch on the demos... you'll note that the "friends" and other left sidebar items are missing. A new link/page will be up soon that will have that info...
Happy Birthday, J!

I was officially indoctrinated into the 6AM group with my personalized Mickey Mouse ears straight from Disney land (6AM Craig) - thanks Matt & Len! Then Alan and Nancy formally sealed my position with a tupperware full of homemade Paleo tomato sauce. I am now 6AM family. Think I might just cry...
I told Tim on Monday when he was doing seated M-Ups that he is going to get one soon. During warm-ups today he hopped up on the rings and wham! nails his first muscle up! Then he beats his Dirty 30 time with his new F50 PR by a 1:30. 60% more work in less time!
Congrats to Leni (28 something!), Matt (30 even), Nancy, Lauren & Tim on their first F50s! Alan did his knees to elbows on the baseball grips - nut.
Happy Birthday JJ!

Pleasant Hill basketball starts on January 7th - we've missed all the Fall leagues. I'm guessing that with the holidays approaching, maybe waiting until January is a good idea anyway?
If interested in playing, email me as sign ups are due now!
Also, does everyone want Pleasant Hill? We could look into Danville or Walnut Creek if preferred?

28:16 PR. Paleo workin'.

Happy Birthday JJ!! Welcome to the older guys club...it's really fun, I promise.
I joined the 10am class and made a run at a Filthy 50 PR. I was actually looking forward to it, since this is my first F50 since I learned DU's. It turned out pretty well, took me only 3 sets to complete them. Burpees were the worst part, as always.
17:50 as RX'd, new PR by almost 2 minutes. Amazing what some Double-Unders can do!
Then hopped on the road bike and joined Jan for a jaunt up Mt. Diablo, 28 miles round-trip from my house to the junction (2000+ ft.), took us ~2hrs. We went gate-to-gate in 39:48, Jan has done it in 31 mins, he's a freak of nature on a bike.
BTW, the new site looks great guys, nice work!

Happy birthday, Jeremy.
Filthy Fifty was a lot of fun. I had a blood blister break during KB swings-- it was pain-free, but a very interesting sensation. I tried to get Sarah to take a picture of m bloody hand, but I don't think she did. Knees-to-elbows sucked, as expected. Back extensions went better than expected. Burpees were slow, but unbroken.
The best part, though, was doing all 50 double unders unbroken. That was unexpected. Once I got to 35 in a row, I just kept thinking: "Don't f*ck up! Don't f*ck up! Don't f*ck up!"
So, yeah. 23:39 RX'd. PR by four minutes.
Word.
Posted by: Mountain at November 4, 2009 8:27 PM
Nice job Mountain. I enjoyed(?) trying to keep up. I particularly enjoyed watching you try out just about every bar and ring apparatus as you worked on your knees-to-elbows. I am glad I didn't give up my bar for a second so you could spread your DNA on it.
Posted by: Jeff B at November 4, 2009 8:47 PM
Standard awesome class with Sarah, busting balls on form as always. I decided to be more methodical and make up any questionable or missed reps which kicked me down to a 24:53 Rx finish. Over 3 minutes off my PR but worth it...I think. Didn't appreciate Tara showing me up with vertical kettlebells making me make up 10 of those little bastards. Thanks big sis...
Good b-day WOD JJ!
Posted by: Mike P. at November 4, 2009 8:48 PM
Mike P. thats legit. I appreciate the self-discipline for reps and ROM.
Leave no doubt.
Posted by: Craig at November 4, 2009 9:04 PM
Thanks Mike. One second?! ONE SECOND??!!
Posted by: Jeff B at November 4, 2009 10:01 PM
I may not have gotten sub-30 on this wonderful workout, but I did PR by 14:10 in five months. Crossfit really does work! 37:10 Rx vs 51:20 Rx.
A little over the time limit, but Sarah gave me a break. Thanks!
Posted by: Danny at November 4, 2009 10:56 PM
happy 30th Jeremy- we all love you ;) Hope you and your wifey have a fun night and you feel very celebrated. Way to go big for your big day!
