I'm working from home this afternoon so I might be able to come in for this one.
Anybody going that could give me a ride home after (Martinez near 4/680 intersection)?
Do muscle-ups have to be rings or bar?

Scott- I am going but not until 5 pm. If you are going this late I can give you a ride after.

Thats my Jazzy! She's an awesome athlete and has continued to impress me with what she's doing while 6+ months pregnant. She's an inspiration to me (and to others, I'm guessing)
Keep at it babe!

Bar or ring muscle ups are both acceptable, but you must stick with the same version for the entire workout (and note it on the WB / workout log).

Oh, that's me! It's always funny to flip to the website and see a great big picture of yourself ;) For anyone who might be wondering, I assure you I was being safe and scale my workouts when needed. Those of you who work out with me know that I go at a much slower pace than before. Now that I am in my third trimester (28 weeks), I am recognizing the need to scale and adapt my workouts even more. Lighter weights, more rest in between reps etc. I know it looks funny to see a pregnant woman doing many of the "strange" things we do at the gym, but I promise, it is safe as long as you keep to a few core principles, listen to your body and don't add anything new that your body was not used to before pregnancy. Trust me... my body tells me pretty quickly when I am doing something it doesn't like. We can do a whole lot more than people think! If anyone ever has any questions related to working out and pregnancy, I am happy to share the few things that I have experienced and learned.
Thanks for all the continued encouragement at the gym! It really is helpful and gives me the motivation to keep coming and changing my own way of thinking of what pregnant women can do. Same principles apply.....when I work out I feel better, stronger and have more energy for the tasks at hand in my daily life. Can't go wrong there!
See you soon,
Jasmine

6AM is a tough crew, they do not like to scale. I think quite a few can do muscles ups very soon - everyone has the prerequisite number of pull ups and dips.
We allowed a seated muscle-up as a sub, or 1 chest-to-bar pull up and 1 shoulders-to-rings dip. We're going to keep working on these skills at 6AM so there is no wod we have to sub! I think one key to the muscle-up is the 2nd kip - the same 2nd kip (hip thrust) that gets your chest to the bar in a c2b pull up. A proper seated muscle up can help you learn the 2nd kip and the hand transition. Another good sub is to put your feet behind you on a bench or box (with knees bent) and assist yourself through a m-up.
6AM also has impressive double unders - Cabby, Alan, Nancy & Tim - in sets of 50, 40s & 30s.
I did this wod in 16:25 after class. M-Ups were slow. PR 44 d-unders in 1st round.
Good workout.

Classes this morning were fun...This was a tough WOD..Vickis DU's have improved so much! Just proves that being consistent works. Davida killed it with 24:46. WELCOME BACK, Brook! It was nice seeing you. Great work, Shawna...I know how hard it was. Jaz and Michele are amazing @ DU's..I need a few lessons. =) Dan got a 28:20...Way to work!

You're awesome, Jaz. I know it freaks some people out to see what a pregnant woman can do-- you're opening a lot of minds, in addition to keeping your health and energy strong.
This workout looks like a lot of fun. I know my shoulder can't handle ring dips, so I'll have to see how it feels about bar muscle ups. I have my doubts, but I'd like to do it RX. If my shoulder won't tolerate muscle ups, I was thinking of subbing one trip up & down a pullup ladder for each muscle up.

24:30 today for me... subbed 15 chin to bar pull ups and 15 ring dips (red band) each round instead of muscle ups. Right now I couldn't do more than a couple chest to bar pull ups even if I wanted to. This was a great workout and it felt good doing it. great day to perfect the art of the Double under... nothing like 200 to give you a chance to get in a groove ;) Great job 10am class... way to keep working at three tough movements.

Craig, I'm glad you got some reps in! Don't let the damn muscle ups leave you again, or you'll never forgive yourself!

I just wish i had more than 1 muscle up to lose.

I was cruising the crossfit main page while being anything but productive today. I was watching videos and saw some shirts I recognized...then some people I recognized. Stav didn't seem too happy about doing Fran again.

Tim, good to hear from you! I hope all is well bro!
If any DCF'ers are ever in the area, he runs an awesome CF gym in Palo Alto, look him up!
Yes, I concede Tim, Fran a second time (chest to bar) would not have been good for me, but more importantly my hands...see video below of 08 games, and the aftermath of my bloody stumps, I mean hands...
