Diablo CrossFit

What Is CrossFit?

Started as a maverick gym in Santa Cruz, CrossFit has spread worldwide, becoming the principal strength & conditioning program for police academies and tactical op's teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, & hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Why? Because CrossFit works...FAST.

CrossFit delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. CrossFit's specialty is not specializing. Daily life, like many sports and professions, (and even combat) requires broad levels of fitness. CrossFit's program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind.

Dustin came to the Shed a little early for his workout and decided that he would try for a muscle up again. He cranked one out first try (and then did more later): ANIMAL.

Workout:

30 Muscle Ups for time.

(If you cannot do muscle ups, do 60 weighted pull ups with 20 lbs added, and 60 ring dips with 20 lbs added. Doing them on the rings is preferred).

Japanese government wages war on waistlines (NYT article)

Under a national law that came into effect two months ago, companies and local governments must now measure the waistlines of Japanese people between the ages of 40 and 74 as part of their annual checkups. That represents more than 56 million waistlines, or about 44 percent of the entire population.

Those exceeding government limits — 33.5 inches for men and 35.4 inches for women. . .

To reach its goals of shrinking the overweight population by 10 percent over the next four years and 25 percent over the next seven years, the government will impose financial penalties on companies and local governments that fail to meet specific targets. . .

Happy Fathers Day to all of our Crossfit daddys!!

Slept in 'til almost 7, had breakfast made for me, and I have a daughter who said I'm her best friend, today! How could it be better?
Looks like I REALLY need to nail that muscle up now that Dustin's done it.
As for that Japan article, while I respect their governments love and care for it's people, I'm not sure I'd want some state agent measuring my waistline (though at 29.5 inches, it's hard to buy men's pants in this country).
There's no argument, however. America is officially FAT AND SASSY.

Thanks to Darren and Meg Rosten watching our kids yesterday (thanks guys!), Stav and I did our first ever crossfit workout together at the gym! We were both super tired but had a great time sharing the team workout. Also, I did my first box jumps and overhead squats ever. Oohhh.. those are hard.

Happy Father's Day Stav... you are one fabulous Father!

May all you daddy's enjoy today and feel proud for the hard work you do all year long!

Cheers,
The wifey

PS. Sakura... that is a great shirt slogan.

Cheers.
